Legal issues surrounding use of data & access to information continue to be topical. This year finally saw full implementation of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, giving the public a legal right of access to certain information held by public authorities. This clearly impacts on government but will also significantly affect companies and private organisations that contract and deal with the public sector.

Data protection law continues to develop. Keeping abreast of current regulation remains critical for private and public bodies. Specifically, restrictions on overseas data transfers have been & continue to be a major issue for a number of organisations.

Kemp Little LLP ( www.kemplittle.com ) is one of the UK 's leading business and technology law firms. The firm has a growing reputation for innovation (the first UK law firm LLP), transparency (the first UK law firm to enable clients to see real time 'what's on the clock'), excellence ('Technology Team of the Year' 2002/'Boutique Firm of the Year' Nominee 2004), and entrepreneurial approach (the only law firm in the Real Business survey of '50 To Watch').

Speakers will focus on key legal developments that organisations need to be aware of in collecting, using and protecting data. We aim to be informative, but also to take a practical approach to the legal issues.
