Kemp Little, the leading technology and digital law firm has reached an agreement with ENTIQ to become a founding member and the exclusive law firm partner of Plexal, a new Innovation Centre based at Here East, on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
As Europe’s largest innovation centre of its kind, initially covering 68,000 sq ft of space, Plexal will provide a wide range of services including practical intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship education courses, a state-of-the-art testing and prototyping lab, acceleration and incubation programmes, events, networking opportunities and a range of funding alternatives. With an initial focus on technology innovation applied to sports, wellbeing, fashion and mobility, the centre will have capacity for 800 members, becoming the home for corporates and startups that are designing and creating the connected products that will improve our lives.
Kemp Little’s managing partner David Williams said “As a specialist technology law firm it is part of our DNA to stay at the forefront of evolving areas of technology; the partnership with Plexal helps us to do just that. Supporting this initiative and becoming a founding member of the Plexal community is an important part of our commitment to play our part in keeping London as Europe’s pre-eminent technology hub. We are tremendously excited to support the growth journeys of the tech companies who will become part of this community.”
Claire Cockerton, CEO of the Plexal, said: “The start-ups based in our centre will all be focused on creating and cultivating the game-changing products of the future. To turn these into successful businesses they need support from professional services experts in vital fields like legal advice, which is why our partnership with Kemp Little is so important. As an expert in legal support to technology firms, Kemp Little will help our centre’s members protect and commercialise their IP as they grow; access to this sort of expertise is just one part of the suite of services we’ll be offering.”
