The Modern Slavery Act 2015 guide
For each financial year ending on or after 31 March 2016, all commercial organisations carrying on business in the UK with turnover of £36 million or more will have to prepare a modern slavery and human trafficking statement, which must be published on their website.
The statement should explain the steps that have been taken to ensure that the business and its supply chains are slavery free, and a failure to comply with this requirement could lead to an injunction being granted forcing the organisation to comply. A further failure to comply with the injunction could lead to an order for contempt of court, which is punishable by an unlimited fine.
