Theresa May has conceded in the battle over migration policy during the transition period. EU migrants who come to Britain during the transition period after the UK exits the EU will have the right to settle permanently in the UK.
The government was previously insisting on drawing a redline for EU migrants arriving after March 2019 preventing them from staying on indefinitely and acquiring permanent residence. However, levels of uncertainty for employers and employees combined with colossal pressure on the Home Office to run two different systems has led the government climb down on this point. This is positive news for UK businesses.
